The Counter-Threat Operations (CTO) course is designed for individuals or teams requiring special skills to operate and survive in a high-risk environment.
The CTO Course condenses several weeks of specialized programs into a four to seven-day package, depending on your particular requirements.
The objective is to expose you and/or your team to numerous but vital anti-terrorism techniques that if practiced, will make you a “hard” target, therefore, reducing your chance of becoming a victim of a criminal or terrorist attack.
We start the program with a seminar on Terrorist Operations, which lays out the purposes, characteristics, steps and mode of operation of a terrorist attack. Analyses of past attacks are then covered for lessons learned from previous assaults and then are used to determine which pro-active Personal Protection measures and counter-measures to employ in your country of assignment. Part of the Personal Protection package consists of how to conduct a Route Analysis and practical exercises emphasizing the importance of multiple route selection, variations in time of departure and speed of travel to / from work, and how to determine the differences between choke points and possible attack sites.
The training then moves to practical exercises in Surveillance Detection while traveling to/from ‘work’ on those same routes. Extremely experienced role players provide real-life situations and problems associated with criminal and terrorist surveillance operations. Participants learn how to confirm surveillance and how to describe what they see. With some clients, counter-surveillance operations are discussed, planned and woven into the exercises. In addition, a practical & efficient method of searching your vehicle for bombs is taught and practiced.
The next phase of the CTO course moves to Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia were participants take part in one of the most advanced and exciting driver training programs in the world. This two-day course starts with advanced driver training and accident avoidance exercises then quickly moves into high-speed driver training & high-speed chases with a night drive on day-one. On day-two, the emphasis shifts to evasive driver training which incorporates car-fighting, forward & reverse ramming, vehicle attack scenarios, right front seat driving and evasive maneuvers.
Most clients then finish the CTO course with 2 – 4 days of AWTI’s High-Risk Personnel Weapons course and in some cases add motorcade operations or live-fire convoy operations.
